Question : I bought a car six months ago and went to 3 different dealers. I told each of them to use their best shot and contact only one lender because I didnt want dozens of hard inquiries on my credit report. My credit score was borderline at the time but naturally I wound up with 32 inquiries. I contacted Equifax to get a list of names and addresses so I could write to each of them challlenging their inquiry. Equifax told me any one of the creditors fails or refuses to respond to my request the inquiry will remain on my report. Does this seem legal ? Is there anything I can do if they refuse ? The inquiries have already caused me to refused a loan to refinance my car.
